“We had a great conference at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre this year, everything lived up to our expectations and more. In terms of location, it is centrally located and everything is within reach. The space and food and beverage available, especially the coffee breaks, were very generous. Everything was really well organised and we appreciate the effort by the entire team. Our thanks to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Hopefully we will have more events there in the future.”

Secure your Advantage

As an AIPC Gold Standard venue, the highest level of certification possible in the quality assessment programme and the only specifically-purposed accreditation of its kind in the international conventions industry, quality assurance remains a priority and consistent investment in upgrades to infrastructure ensure the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s reputation as a market leader.

Elaborating on this advantage, the Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor, shared, “We pride ourselves as an ideal business events partner. One that is committed to service excellence through personalised service coupled with meeting design solutions to create bespoke experiences. Our highly knowledgeable team backed by a strong track record in operational execution and excellence, has played a key role in our success to-date.”

Pryor continued, “Under our partnership approach, our extremely professional team works closely with clients to seamlessly deliver flexible, innovative value-add solutions to suit their specific needs. Over the years, this has resulted in us building a strong loyal recurrent client base and proven track record in quality service, operational excellence and product innovation.”

Referencing recent award wins, Pryor explained, “Last year we won the “Outstanding Venue Award” at the AFECA (Asian Federation of Exhibition & Convention Associations) Awards 2016 and received the AEG 1EARTH Greeny Award 2016 for our environmental sustainability efforts. We were also recently awarded the INCON Digital Infrastructure Award 2017, further demonstrating our commitment to provide excellent service by placing a priority on maintaining, upgrading and enhancing its world-class facilities.”

“Since partnering with the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in 2000, I have found that they are extremely professional in the management of operations and events, as well as the services rendered. The Centre is a reliable venue partner for our exhibitions and events, making both organising the event and providing our delegates/visitors with remarkable experiences, an easy feat. We (ARCHIDEX) were also the first to explore the feasibility of converting the concourse parking area to an exhibition space at our most recent edition of ARCHIDEX, and it was a resounding success! This space provides the Centre with an alternative solution in providing unconventional exhibition space while waiting for the completion of their expansion.”

Building a Legacy

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s commitment to talent development and international best practices to ensure quality standards and service excellence has resulted in a highly reputable track record and over 30 global and national awards and accolades to-date.

“Developing a unified team with the right capabilities to deliver personalised solutions and create the perfect customer journey is essential. Since opening in 2005, we have always put an emphasis on training and development to retain local talent, advance the professional development of the business events industry and supply chain, and produce a skilled pool of human capital for the Centre, hospitality industry and Malaysia.” said Pryor.

He continued, “Our most recent achievement was the launch of our Training Academy in collaboration with training institutions, government agencies, universities and industry associations. The academy will utilise our 12 years of accumulated knowledge and training expertise to boost local talent with in-depth industry experience, and to develop relevant training modules to alleviate the shortage of a skilled workforce for the local business events and hospitality industry supply chain.”

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has also developed numerous other programmes designed to nurture and develop local talent namely, the Ambassador Programme, which addresses the flexible staff shortage faced by the industry and even prompted a paradigm shift in talent management in Malaysia’s hospitality industry. The model has gained industry acceptance and is being adopted through various Malaysian government initiatives and programmes, and used as a basis for curriculum in educational institutions.

“I wish to express my sincere thanks to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre team for helping to make our Australia Day celebration such a success, once again, this year. We very much appreciated the team’s creative flair, hard work and assistance throughout the organising and on the night. It may only be the beginning of 2017, but I am confident that the Australian High Commission has successfully upheld its reputation for throwing the best national day celebration in Kuala Lumpur. Our success here is also your success.”

Growing into the Future

Moving forward, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s expansion continues to progress and is due to be completed in mid-2019. The extension will provide an additional 10,000 sqm of flexible and multi-purpose space, which means more room to comfortably accommodate larger exhibitions and international association meetings, as well as concurrent events, allowing new and current clients to grow their activities and/or events significantly.

“We are delighted the extension work is progressing. The increase of our event space will not only benefit our current clients, but will also enhance Malaysia’s and Kuala Lumpur’s reputation as a premier business events destination and help to build the capabilities of the local supply chain. Our goal is to deliver a positive impact and grow future industry leaders to ensure the sustainability of the meetings industry nationally and globally,” concluded Pryor.
